I bought my first kayak in 1995. I was eager to test my kayak in the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. After lugging the 60 lb boat above my head for more than 200 yards to the shore, I decided that I needed a better ,easier way to port my kayak. When I returned home, I proceeded to search out carts to purchase for my kayak. I was stunned to say the least at how few affordable kayak carts were on the market. It was at that moment that I set out to design my own cart. It needed to be lightweight, durable and inexpensive. The result of many, many, many prototypes was the Scupper Kayak Cart. I began making the cart for people who saw me using mine. The next thing I knew, I was getting orders from people for multiple carts. My first wholesale order was for a dozen carts for a kayak rental business in the lower Florida Keys.

Since then, Key West Paddle Sports has been a growing company, selling thousands of our carts to individuals and businesses over the internet and through wholesaling to kayak shops across the country and now around the world in countries like Spain, Italy, Australia, Canada, Mexico and Jamaica just to name a few. We have developed two other excellent products for kayak and canoe owners. The Bunk Cart has both proven to be a popular cart, selling over 500 carts in the first year of production. Then we found ourselves in 2004 and we were again expanding our product line to include the ultra- small, ultra- strong stern sport  kayak cart. This cart has been a run away success with more than 300 sold in the first 9 months of 2004. It has huge appeal to folks because of it's simplicity and size. We pride ourselves on making the most durable, convenient and affordable kayak and canoe carts on the market today.

In 2005 we expanded our product line to include a revolutionary sets of outriggers (stabilizers) for your kayak & canoe. Super Stabilizers. We have sold over 100 sets in the first 2 months of production!! The Scupper Cart kayak cart was also developed in 2005. It was only after over 30 proto- types that we felt we had it right. This cart expands to fit more than one size kayak with scupper holes. This has proven to be a huge seller to kayak rental shops and the general public who own more than 1 kayak. Wow and the all new Retractable Kayak Stabilizers have also been a huge hit..

We then developed one of our best products to date. The Dumb Stick is a tow bar that attaches to your bicycle seat post and allows you to tow your kayak, canoe, golf clubs or grocery getter behind your bike.
